Foot and Ankle Joint Dislocations

How to Diagnose Joint Dislocation of the Foot and Ankle
A joint dislocation of the foot and ankle can be diagnosed by physical examination and imaging tests, such as X-rays or MRI scans. During the physical examination, the doctor will check the joint's range of motion and the area around the joint for deformity, swelling, and bruising.
They may also check the pulse and sensation in the foot and ankle. Imaging tests, such as X-rays, can show the position of the bones in the joint and identify any fractures that may have occurred when the joint was dislocated. An MRI scan can also be used to look for any damage to the ligaments or other soft tissue structures in the joint.
